To raise funds for next year’s New Cross + Deptford Free Film Festival , we bring you the much-loved comedy Sister Act – on the big screen inside Deptford’s St Nicholas Church – with a live performance by the church’s gospel choir.
When her mobster boyfriend puts her on the hit list, Deloris goes into hiding in a San Francisco nunnery. But what can a rambunctious lounge singer do to fit into the ordered calm of a convent? With star turns from Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris and Maggie Smith as Mother Superior, Sister Act is a movie brimming with laughter, music and soul.
